In the Greenhouse, Again!,

Hello,  not much to report here again.  The heat has made me feel very lazy so I'll share some more pictures from the greenhouse taken this week.
Luckily it's shaded by a tall hedge in the afternoon and I've put some netting over the other side to stop it getting too hot.  With a door at both ends it gets a bit of a breeze too, so the plants are quite happy.

I'm loving the mix of pelargoniums, fuchsias and streptocarpus.  They seem to blend together well and stop it all looking too "samey"

Streptocarpus don't usually have any scent but this one, Sweet Melys has a lovely jasmine/lily of the valley perfume

Last week was our 30th anniversary and we received a cake made by a very talented friend of my sister.  The bouquet of flowers are all handmade from sugar paste.  What patience to create something so beautiful.  I've put them in the book case for safe keeping, but need to find a clear box to store them in.

Bye for now.

More Flowers

The hollyhocks are starting to take over now the poppies are losing their petals.  I love how they come back year after year, different combinations of colours, but always with a bit of a "wow" factor and fuss free, apart from the rust which usually covers the leaves but doesn't affect the flowers.  This year they seem really healthy, so I guess it's damp weather thing.

Echinops and clematis are loving the heat too.

The garden is alive with bees, butterflies and hoverflies.  They love this "Graham Thomas" honeysuckle,  It has a much stronger scent than the other red and yellow one, really intense.  Sadly it hasn't grown very big and only has a few flowers each year, I think a sunnier site would suit it better.

And finally, these gorgeous gooseberries will need picking soon.  There's two bushes laden with fruit, so I need to figure out what I'm going to do with it all.

Hope you enjoy the weekend.

Lazy Days

Well, the heatwave continues.   Hubby managed to get some time off work and we've enjoyed doing not very much except lounge around in the shade trying to keep cool.  I had planned a couple of garden visits but decided they would have to wait for another time, when I'm less likely to turn bright red!

So, the comfy chairs have been moved from the summerhouse.

Hubby's camping hammock and "tarp" have been set up ( think he watches too much Ray Mears on TV!)

And this has been in use most days

There has been a lot of strawberry picking going on in the mornings.  Last year the plants were new and there was only a handful of fruit.  This year they seem to have gone mad, even though I chose varieties to extend the season, they all seem to have fruited in one week!   We've eaten loads, but I've made preserve too.  It looks delicious and I'm looking forward to some with some scones!

Hope you're making the most of summer and aren't too hot!

Garden Snippets

It looks like summer is finally here.  Time to dig out the Pimm's  I think!
The garden is blooming at the moment, despite having a break from veg growing, there's plenty of colour from the poppies that have gone mad this year, along with the honeysuckle that's covering the arches.

I left some leeks to run to seed and they're starting to flower now.

The philladelphus has the most amazing scent, quite intoxicating!

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you still manage to follow my blog ok.  I did look into Bloglovin as many of you seem to have added it, but decided to keep things simple.  I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but I'm happy checking on the dashboard for blog updates.
I thought about dividing my sidebar list into different types of blogs, like gardening, quilting, crochet etc but so many are a mixture that I ruled that out.  With quite a few bloggers sadly giving up and new ones being discovered all the time it's easier to just have one list on my dashboard.
Have a good weekend
